Lifestyle & Living
Seychelles is regularly cited as one of the most beautiful places on earth, and for good reason. The 115-island archipelago offers granite boulder beaches, crystal-clear waters, and lush tropical forests that are home to unique endemic species. Mahe, the main island, has a compact but well-serviced capital in Victoria, with supermarkets, restaurants, and healthcare facilities that cater to both locals and expatriates. Praslin and La Digue offer quieter, more idyllic settings for those seeking a slower pace. Despite its small size, Seychelles has international schools, reliable internet connectivity, and direct flights to Dubai, Addis Ababa, Nairobi, and several European cities via connections. The community is diverse, blending African, Asian, and European influences into a unique Creole culture reflected in the food, music, and architecture. Water sports, sailing, fishing, and hiking are part of daily life, and the year-round tropical climate keeps temperatures between 24 and 32 degrees Celsius.
Tax Benefits
Seychelles operates one of the most favorable tax regimes in Africa. There is no capital gains tax, no inheritance tax, and no wealth tax. Personal income tax applies only to Seychelles-sourced employment income at progressive rates up to 15%. Crucially, foreign-sourced income is not taxed, making Seychelles extremely attractive for remote workers, investors with international portfolios, and retirees living on foreign pensions or investment income. The corporate tax rate for domestic companies is 25% on the first SCR 1 million of profit and 33% thereafter, but International Business Companies (IBCs) registered in Seychelles are exempt from local taxation on income earned outside the country. Seychelles has also signed a number of tax information exchange agreements to maintain compliance with international standards while preserving its competitive tax environment.
